With a presence in virtually every community in these United States, the American Cancer Society is committed to advancing the fight against cancer through balanced programs of research, education, service and advocacy. The mission of The Citizens' Commission to Protect the Truth - ending youth smoking - is consistent with our own organizational objectives as well as our philosophy on collaborating to control cancer.

Millions of our friends and supporters will be participating in Relay For Life this spring and summer - the American Cancer Society's signature nationwide activity. We'll be asking local offices to collect petitions in support of continued payments by Big Tobacco to the Public Educations Fund, which provides financing for the truth® youth anti-smoking campaign.

We are confident that signatures we collect at these events will send a strong message and make a huge contribution toward the commission's goal of one million signatures from concerned Americans who want to put a stop to tobacco use by children and teenagers.

If we eliminate smoking, we prevent cancer and save lives. That is why we emphasize and support prevention efforts like the truth® campaign.
